Police expands search area to find New Zealand hostage pilot

Jakarta, IO – Police continue search for Susi Air pilot Philip Mark Mehrtens who has been held hostage by Papua armed criminal group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya since February 7, reported Detik, Monday (6/3). The search is now expanded to Nduga and Lanny Jaya Regencies.

Police Chief Commissioner Faizal Ramadani, commander of Cartenz Damai joint operation said there is no time limit set for the search and rescue effort. He said the immediate aim is to find the exact location where the pilot is held.

Police has also carried out other “soft approaches,” including negotiations with community leaders and tribal leaders. “We are determined to find and save pilot Philip Mark,” he emphasized. (un)
