Jakarta, IO – PT PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo said the decision is intended to support the community during the post-pandemic economic recovery.

“PLN decided to cancel the gas-to-electric stoves conversion program to provide relief in the community through reliable electricity supply,” said Darmawan in a press statement received by Observerid.com, Wednesday (28/9).

In addition, he said based on the discussion with the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ministry, there will be no hike in electricity tariff and no elimination and transfer of certain category of power.

“There will be no change in power from 450 VA to 900 VA category and PLN is ready to carry out the decision. PLN has never conducted any formal discussions or planned to increase power from 450 VA to 900 VA,” he said. This means that the rates for both groups will remain the same.

Observers believe the conversion program is cancelled because it met resistance from the public. Many believe it will only heap more burden on the people. (un)
