He said COP26 which took place in Glasgow, Scotland last year produced the Glasgow Climate Pact (GCP) which emphasized the urgency of increasing action and support including funding, capacity building and technology transfer to improving adaptive capacity, strengthening defenses, and reducing vulnerability to climate change.

“The world seems to be getting smaller when we talk about climate change. There are at least three things that affect it, firstly the impact that occurs everywhere beyond national borders and even the whole world. Second, the time span is very long; it can reach 50-100 years or longer. Third, scientific issues,” said Rachmat.

Agus Sari, CEO of Landscape Indonesia, concurred. He reminded that alarm has been sounded by many parties that mankind must adapt to climate change. He also explained various steps that philanthropy can contribute, namely helping to reduce the impact of climate change and helping communities adapt to these impacts. Agus also sees the need for a joint contribution between the public, private sector, government and stakeholders, for example in fund raising.
