IO – While the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) is still a few years away,
political parties have started to put forth their best cadres, the ones looking to be Indonesia’s future leaders. PDIP (PDI Perjuangan), as the ruling party, also comments on the political dynamics.
Hasto Kristiyanto, Secretary-General of the PDIP DPP, has commented that the Party is steadfast in its commitment to the Congress resolution to mandate PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri, in appointing a 2024 presidential candidate approved by the Party.
In a charity event held at the PDIP office (23/10/2021), Hasto declared “We have stressed that based on the 5th Congress in Bali, both the presidential and vice presidential candidates will be decided by Megawati.”
He revealed that certain PDIP cadres are already proposing their
preferred figures for 2024 Pilpres, even before Megawati announces
her decision; among them is F.X. Hadi Rudyatmo, Chairman of PDIP
DPC Solo. Hasto suggested that as a former Solo Mayor supported by
PDIP, Hadi should know the rules of the Party more thoroughly.
“Rudy, as a senior figure, should have known the culture of PDIP, which is a democratic party. When Megawati makes a decision, we comply and obey,” added Hasto.
Hasto claimed that PDIP does in fact have an internal mechanism to recruit the most qualifed cadres, and he thus urges Party management to conduct party consolidation. He outlined how the Party has painted a big picture, and every cadre who joins should bind themselves to that bigger goal.
“For those who fail to understand the strategic aspect of preparing
leaders for the country’s future, and are tempted to act recklessly, they
are welcome to leave the Party. This Party possesses a long history and
extensive experience in manifesting “from the people, by the people and
for the people” democracy. Therefore, the Party should enforce discipline in this matter,” he said.
Hasto is confident that Megawati will choose the correct figure, after
observing the people’s aspirations and conducting spiritual contemplation. Her task, said Hasto, is not only to determine but to ascertain the right person who can carry on Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) leadership.
Thus, Hasto reminded all parties, particularly PDIP cadres, that they must have patience and wait for the right moment. He assured all that in time, Megawati will announce the person deserving to continue Jokowi’s endeavor as President.
“This because the Party wishes to ensure continuity of Jokowi’s leadership, built on his various achievements. It is crucial to fnd the most appropriate figure to pass the baton to,” said Hasto. (des)
