IO – Poltracking Indonesia currently reveals the three lanes for a 2024
presidential candidate nomination: regional heads, political parties and ministers.
This information was disclosed during the release of an Indonesian Poltracking National Survey entitled “Evaluation of the 2 Years of Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin Administration & the 2024 Presidential Electoral Political Map”, Monday (25/10/2021).
“Survey findings show that there are only three potential lanes. First, the governor lane, a political escalator for the 2024 potential candidate. In particular, the governors on Java such as those administering Jakarta,
West Java, Central Java and East Java,” said the Executive Director
of Poltracking Indonesia Hanta Yudha AR in a virtual presentation.
Hanta elaborated how the most strategic political escalator is the
leaders of political parties. Among the names mentioned are Gerindra Party Chairman MoD Prabowo Subianto, Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto, PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar and PAN Chairman Zulkifi Hasan.
He added that the third track is for the ministers in the cabinet. Although the number is not as signifcant as the governors, several ministers’ names that surface in the survey are also elites of political parties such as Prabowo Subianto, Sandiaga Uno, Airlangga Hartarto, Erick Thohir and Mahfud MD.
“Therefore, these are the potential political escalators that we analyzed, based on survey findings and (eventually) depending on who can hitch onto political momentum,” he concluded. (des)
