MPR chairman supports indigenous defense industry during visit to Indo Defence 2022

Jakarta, IO – People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) chairman Bambang “Bamsoet” Soesatyo visited the Indo Defence 2022 Expo & Forum at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/11). He especially stopped by the booths of five state-owned defense firms grouped under the holding company Defend ID.

Bambang expressed his hope that the independence in defense manufacturing can be continuously carried out through close collaboration among the stakeholders in the ecosystem. As an example, he pointed to the collaboration between Dwimitra Pasifik Internasional and PT Pindad to produce weapons and ammunition with local content rate (TKDN) expected to be over 50 percent.

Although the production is still limited, around 100 units to be marketed in the next one or two months, Bambang said it can expand the opportunities for the local players to build a self-reliant defense industry.
