Jakarta, IO – Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and House Speaker Puan Maharani have been recommended to run in the 2024 presidential election by Laskar Ganjar Puan in its first national meeting in Blitar, East Java, Sunday (19/6).
Saleh Ismail Mukadar, head of the East Java chapter of Laskar Ganjar Puan, stated that the declaration conducted at Gebang Palace, the childhood residence of President Soekarno, is of particular significance, Antara reported on Monday (20/6).
“The goal is indeed to unite aspirations from all over Indonesia to recommend Pak Ganjar and Mbak Puan as presidential and vice-presidential candidates for 2024 to PDI-P central executive board in the National Working Meeting,” said Saleh.
He also added that Gebang Palace has a historical significance as Soekarno’s childhood home. Thus, the declaration was expected to rekindle the spirit of Soekarno.
