Jakarta, IO – PT Pertamina through its upstream subsidiary PT Pertamina EP Upstream Subholding Java Region succeeded in finding two new oil and gas wells in West Java, namely in Indramayu and Bekasi.

They are designated East Akasia Cinta (EAC)-001 in the PEP Jatibarang Field exploration area, Indramayu Regency and the East Pondok Aren Well (EPN)-001 in the PEP Tambun Field explorationarea, Bekasi regency, per CNBC Indonesia, Tue (19/12).

“Both are exploration wells that can bolster optimism for the search of new resources in areas that are classified as mature so that they can immediately contribute to Indonesia’s oil and gas production in the future,” said Pertamina EP president director Wisnu Hindadari.

Based on the Drill Stem Test, the EAC-001 well can produce 30 Barrels of Oil Per Day (BOPD), gas reaching 2.08 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) and condensate equivalent to 15.05 Barrels of Condensate Per Day (BCPD). The drilling reached the depth 2520 mMD.

Meanwhile, the EPN-001 well in Tambun succeeded in discovering oil and gas in the second DST at the rate of 402 BOPD for oil and 1.09 MMSCFD for gas at the depth of 2590 mMD.

“This drilling is pioneering in proving a different exploration method to discover and unlock the potential for new oil and gas reserves in the onshore area of North West Java,” said Pertamina EP vice president for exploration Indra Yuliandri.

The discovery of these reserves is also an important part of the government’s program in the national energy sector to achieve gas production target of 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) and oil production of 1 million barrels per day by 2030. (bp)
