Jokowi asks Japan to finish projects on time

Jakarta, IO – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo held a meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida in Tokyo, Wednesday (27/7). On the occasion, Jokowi specifically requested that Japan complete its projects in Indonesia on time.

“Several strategic projects that I ask for their completion to be accelerated include Jakarta MRT North-South Phase II and East-West Phase I, West Papua Industrial Estate, expansion of the Patimban Port and Patimban toll road access, and we also discussed the commitment to the continuation of the Masela Block project,” said Jokowi in an official statement issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, Thursday (28/7).

In addition, Jokowi asked Japan to reduce tariffs for several products, including tuna, bananas, and pineapples as well as market access for mangoes.

Jokowi also asked Japan to provide scientific and technological support for several strategic projects in Indonesia, especially the industrial downstreaming of commodities, the development of electric vehicles, as well as the health and food sector.
