
Solo, IO – Indonesian men’s badminton players won the first gold medal in the 2022 ASEAN Para Games held in UMS Edutorium, Solo, Central Java, Sunday (31/7).
In a group competition, Indonesia managed to beat Thailand 3-0. Fredy Setiawan, Hafizh Prawiranegara/Hary Susanto, and Dheva Anrimusthi were the stars of the game, according to a release by the Youth and Sports Ministry on Monday (1/8).
In the first match, Fredy defeated Kitichokwattana Chawarat in a straight set with a score of 21-19, 21-12. This gave Indonesia an early advantage against Thailand.
The win in men’s doubles event by Hafizh/Hary over Chok Uthaikul Watcharaphon/Teamarron Siripong with a score of 21-13, 21-13 inspired more confidence.

Indonesian team’s victory was secured in the second men’s single event where Dheva managed to beat Somsiri Pricha with a score of 21-4, 21-8.
In the previous match, Indonesia was also able to best Vietnam with a convincing 3-0 score, thanks to the victories of Fredy Setiawan, Hafizh Prawiranegara/Ukun Rukaendi, and Suryo Nugroho. (un)
