Singapore Open 2022: Leo/Daniel beat Malaysian pair in opening match

Jakarta, IO – With offensive and tactical play style, Indonesian men’s doubles Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin managed to defeat Tan Kian Meng/Tan Wee Kiong of Malaysia in the opening match of the Singapore Open 2022, Tuesday (12/7).

In the first half, Leo/Daniel were trailing 12-16. However, they were able to win six straight points and end the game with a score of 21-18.

In the second half, Leo/Daniel again faced fierce counterattack from Tan Kian Meng/Tan Wee Kiong who led first with 16-11. However, the world No. 23 could equalize it to 16-16 and wrapped up the match with 21-18.

“Our target at the Singapore Open is to give the best results. However, we still have to focus on going through one match at a time,” Daniel said at the end of the match, according to press release from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI).
