Jakarta, IO – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa received a visit from the Indonesian Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, on the second day of Eid Al-Fitr 1443 H, at the Grahadi State Building, Tuesday (5/3/2022).
Governor Khofifah welcomed Minister of Defense Prabowo and his staff by exhibiting various superior horticultural products, especially from the East Java food sector, ranging from fruits and various vegetables to rice-like processed Konjac.
“Our superior East Javanese agricultural and horticultural products and processed products are deliberately arranged and displayed to attract guests’ interest,” said Governor Khofifah to Minister of Defense Prabowo.
Governor Khofifah also invited the Minister of Defense to taste Pineapple Pasir Kelud (PK)-1, a superior Eastern Javanese local fruit planted in Ngancar District, Kediri. The fruit was a development based on the research results of the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB).
The superior breed of pineapple was developed with several advances: it tastes sweeter, has fewer sharp spikes and is consumable without being peeled. The PK-1 pineapple has been Eastern Java’s most wanted export commodity to Singapore and Japan.
“During the harvesting, I was told by the pineapple farmers to peel the pineapple skin off quite simply, as the thorns are not as sharp as those of regular pineapples,” said the Governor.
