300 Hectares of Land in Way Kambas National Park Ablaze

Jakarta, IO – 300 hectares of land in Way Kambas National Park, East Lampung regency is on fire on Wednesday (20/3).

Joint officers from various elements have been deployed to extinguish the fire which has continued to spread until Thursday (21/3), per CNN Indonesia, Thu (21/3).

“Yesterday the land in the Section I Way Kanan area caught fire,” said Hermawan, the acting head of the Way Kambas National Park bureau.

“The fire started burning the land since Wednesday at 1.15pm WIB and was successfully extinguished on Thursday night at 1.05am,” he said.

Hermawan said that the attemp to extinguish the fire was carried out by dozens of joint officers from Way Kambas National Park, TNI, Polri and other relevant parties.

“There were 30 joint officers yesterday who extinguished the fire, and thank God they managed to control the blaze,” he added.

Hermawan said that so far no wild animals have been killed in the wildfire. (un)
