Jakarta, IO – The management of Raden Mas Said State Islamic University (UIN) in Solo, Central Java, continues to investigate case of online loan application being made by its new students.

The university recently found out that there was indeed an agreement of up to Rp160 million behind the sponsorship of UIN Solo’s Introduction to Academic and Student Culture (PBAK) activities, per Detikcom, Wednesday (9/8).

This fact was obtained by the campus after holding an ethics trial. The hearing found evidence of a cooperation agreement between the Student Council and one of the sponsors.

“We obtained an MoU between the student council and the sponsor,” said its vice rector Syamsul Bakri Wironagoro. He said the cooperation should not have happened, especially since it involved a large amount of money.

“The students don’t have the right to enter into an MoU,” he said. Syamsul added that he was suspicious of the amount provided by the sponsor.

UIN Solo Code of Ethics Council has found at least 300 new students applying for online loans. Syamsul emphasized that the funds allotted by the university for the activities was only Rp400 million.

“PBAK runs for 3-4 days, and everything has been budgeted so there was actually no shortage of funds,” Syamsul pointed out. (un)
