Jakarta, IO – Public prosecutors on Tuesday (17/1) demanded the judges to hand down life sentence verdict for ex-police internal affairs division chief Ferdy Sambo accused of masterminding the premeditated murder of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, popularly known as “Brigadier J”.

“Defendant Ferdy Sambo should be held criminally responsible. We hope that the panel of judges can sentence Ferdy Sambo to life imprisonment,” said the prosecutors at the South Jakarta District Court, reported Tempo.

The prosecutors based their demand on aggravating factors including Sambo’s action in trying to cover up his crime and his attitude for not admitting it when giving testimony. Ferdy Sambo was charged with Penal Code article 340 in conjunction with Article 55(1.1) which carries a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.
