Malaysia, IO – International Pencak Silat Association (Persilat) president and Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI) chairman Prabowo Subianto said he values the enthusiasm and sportsmanship of pencak silat athletes participating in the championship.
According to him, this goes beyond simply winning or losing.
“Here, everyone is a winner. Because pencak silat is not about winning or losing. But self-defense. Defense against evil, defending truth against falsehood,” Prabowo remarked at the closing ceremony of the 19th World Pencak Silat Championship in Malacca, Malaysia, Sunday (31/7).
The Indonesian Defense Minister also appreciated Malaysian National Silat Federation (Pesaka) for holding the tournament. According to him, Pesaka and the Malaysian Government have set a high standard in holding world-class pencak silat championships.
