Jakarta, IO – The decision was made after Ismail Bolong was questioned for 13 hours by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Bureau’s directorate of special crimes on Tuesday (6/12).
Johannes Tobing, Ismail’s lawyer, said his client was detained on Wednesday (7/12) morning after being named a suspect, reported CNN Indonesia, Thursday (8/12).
He said his client was charged with violating Article 158 juncto Article 159 juncto Article 16 of the Law 3/2020 on mineral and coal mining.

Ismail went viral after he confessed to being illegal coal middleman in East Kalimantan. He then dropped a bombshell statement that the proceeds of crime also flowed to a number of high-ranking police officers, including head of the Criminal Investigation Bureau (Bareskrim) Commissioner General Agus Andrianto.
