Identity of suicide bomber in Bandung revealed

Jakarta, IO – National Police chief Gen. Listyo Sigit revealed the identity of the suicide bomber that attached a police station in Astana Anyar, Bandung, West Java, Wednesday (7/12). He is a former convict in a terrorism case who was released in early 2021.

“Based on fingerprint analysis and facial recognition, we were able to identify the perpetrator. His name is Agus Sujatno,” said Listyo, reported CNN Indonesia.

Agus Sujatno, also known as Abu Muslim, is a resident of the Cibangkong, Batu Nunggal district, Bandung. He was convicted on terrorism charge and jailed for four years at the Class IIA prison, Nusa Kambangan.

The suicide bombing occurred at 8:20 a.m. WIB after the police personnel at the station completed their morning drill.

Bandung Police head Chief Commissioner Aswin Sipayung said Agus entered the police premises brandishing a sharp weapon before blowing himself up. The blast killed the perpetrator, one police officer and injured seven others. (un)
