He said NU organization is still run according to its “khitah” or ideals, which is to become a religious organization that is convenient for all its members.
“NU sticks to its khitah and must be a convenient big house for all its members as a religious mass organization,” he said.
The term cultural NU has often been identified with members or NU “kiai” (Muslim clerics/scholars) at the grassroots who maintain NU longstanding traditions.
Meanwhile, structural NU refers to members or kiai who sits on NU organization. However, within the organization itself there is no official dichotomy. (rr)
