Jakarta, IO – A school in the Sagaing Region was reportedly fired upon by several Myanmar military helicopters. As a result, six children died and 17 others were injured.

A number of local Myanmar media, including Mizzima and Irrawaddy, also reported the incident. The school is located within a Buddhist monastery in the village of Let Yet Kone, Central Sagaing, reported Detik on Tuesday (20/9).

Two local residents, who declined to be named for security reason, said by telephone that some of the bodies of the victims were transported by the military to a town 11 kilometers away and buried there.

Images posted to social media showed what appeared to be a damaged structure at the site of the attack, including several bullet holes and bloodstains on the school building.
