Jakarta, IO – Residents of Gampong Blang Raya, Muara Tiga district, Pidie regency, Aceh, were surprised by the landing of a large wooden ship on the beach on Tuesday (14/11) morning and a scene of more than a hundred of Rohingya refugees disembarking.
The Keuchik (village head) of Blang Raya, Rijalul Fikri, said that almost 200 Rohingya refugees had landed in his village. “We will coordinate with the relevant authorities,” he said, per Kompas, Tue (14/11).
Muara Tiga Police chief Ipda Efendi confirmed the incident. “The number and their condition cannot be ascertained yet, now we are still under monitoring,” he said.

This is not the first time Rohingya refugees landing at Laweung Beach. Similar incidents happened in December 2022 and January 2023. (rr)
