Jakarta, IO – The strong performance of Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto is a major factor contributing to his popularity, a survey by Lingkaran Suara Publik (LSP) found. “This is reasonable considering his role in national politics in the past 13 years after reformasi,” said LSP researcher Indra Nuryadendi, Antara reported on Tuesday (21/6).

Based on the survey, Prabowo Subianto’s popularity level reached 95.1%, while his voter preference rate was 74.5%. According to Indra, this was also influenced by Prabowo’s success in leading the Defense Ministry and his spearheading Indonesia’s defense diplomacy in the international arena.

Trailing Prabowo Subianto were Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan with 87.7% popularity and 57.7% voter preference rate, followed by West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil (87.8%, 57.4%), Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo (87.7%, 55.7%), Democratic Party chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (86.1%, 55.1%).
