Iran hopes to strengthen ties with Indonesia on 44th anniversary of Islamic Revolution

Jakarta, IO – The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta held the Islamic Revolution anniversary commemoration which marked the founding of the Islamic Republic of Iran 44 years ago. Hundreds of invitees from the foreign embassies and a number of national figures attended the event at Flores Ballroom, Borobudur Hotel, Friday (10/2) evening.

They included former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Health Minister Budi G Sadikin, as well as businessman and member of the Regional Representatives Council (DPD) Fadel Muhammad.

The event was accentuated by Iranian nuances from the display of Iranian antiques such as cups of various sizes and shapes to brightly-coloured porcelain at the entrance and calligraphy, Quran and elegant Persian rugs inside the room.

In addition to the decoration, the food was also exquisite featuring Middle Eastern specialties such as biryani rice complete with side dishes, shawarma to samosas.

The event commenced with remarks from the Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Khoush Heikal Azad. He mentioned an increase in bilateral relations between Indonesia and Iran which has been established since the Iranian Revolution and hope for this to be maintained going forward.
