Farel Prayoga, street busker from Banyuwangi, sways the Palace to the tune of dangdut

Jakarta, IO – 12-year-old Farel Prayoga became an instant public sensation after he performed at the commemoration of the 77th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace on Wednesday (17/8).

His singing of dangdut song “Ojo Dibandingke” went viral on social media. With his melodious voice Farel managed to hypnotize all those who were present at the Palace at that time, from the ministers, artists, even the president and first lady.

Farel Prayoga, born on August 8, 2010, hails from Pendungan village Banyuwangi, East Java. He is a sixth-grade student at state elementary school Kepundungan 2. He is the third child of four siblings.

In Banyuwangi, he is a renowned street busker who often performs with his father. His talent was further honed after joining Wandra Management, owned by a Banyuwangi singer and composer.

His popularity soared on social media when a video clip of him and his friends singing the song Ojo Dibandingke, popularized by Denny Caknan, went viral.
