Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo agreed to raise electricity tariffs for customers in the category of 3,000 VA and above, despite the surge in energy commodity prices due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
According to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, this policy was made in a bid to share the government’s burden with the upper middle-class.

“The President and the cabinet have agreed to share the burden, for households that can afford it, which is represented by those in the 3,000VA and above category. There will be an increase in electricity tariff only for that segment,” said Sri Mulyani in a working meeting with the House Budget Committee, as reported by Bisnis Indonesia, Friday (20/5).
