Densus 88 Arrests Terrorist Suspects in Sulawesi and Central Java

Jakarta, IO – National Police’s anti-terror squad Densus 88 arrested two terrorist suspects in Palu, Central Sulawesi and Central Java. They were suspected of being members of a terrorist groups Anshor Daulah and Jemaah Islamiyah, said Densus 88 spokesperson Pol Comm. Aswin Siregar, per Kompas, Thu (16/11).

However, Aswin did not reveal further about their roles and identities due to ongoing investigation. “Investigators are still working intensively,” said Aswin.

To date, Densus 88 has arrested a total of 104 terrorist suspects between January to October. According to Aswin, this number has decreased compared to the previous two years when 370 and 248 terrorists were arrested.

“There has been a downward trend in terror incidents and perpetrators of terrorist act offenses in the last three years,” he said.

Aswin emphasized that his unit would continue to take preventive steps to suppress potential acts of terrorism. (un)
