In the meeting, Defense Minister Prabowo expressed his appreciation for USINDOPACOM’s defense and humanitarian assistance for earthquake disaster victims in Aceh, Padang, and the search for KRI Nanggala-402.
Indonesia and the US established defense cooperation all the way since 1950. In October 2020, they agreed to expand the partnership, such as expanding education and training for Indonesian Armed Forces cadets in a number of military educational institutions in the US.

Defense cooperation between Indonesia and the US includes bilateral dialogue and consultation on shared security issues, human resource development, maritime security capacity development, logistics and military supply cooperation, maritime cooperation, defense procurement, joint research and development, personnel professionalism, peacekeeping operations and training, humanitarian assistance and disaster management and managing transnational threats.
