Bareskrim suspects ACT president embezzles Lion Air crash compensation fund

Bareskrim also suspected that ACT deliberately persuaded the beneficiaries of plane crash compensation to appoint it as the manager of the fund, but ACT never divulged how much CSR funds it received from Boeing, including the progress of the CSR programs it managed.

Ramadhan explained that Boeing wanted the compensation funds to be disbursed through international-standard foundation. This was the reason why Boeing appointed ACT as the manager of the CSR funds to build educational facilities according to the recommendations of the beneficiaries.

Police based their investigation on Article 372 in conjunction with Article 372 of the Penal Code and/or Article 45A (1) in conjunction with Article 28 (1) of Law 19 of 2016 on Information and Electronic Transactions and/or Article 70 (1) and (2) in conjunction with Article 5 of Law 28/2004 on Foundations and/or Article 3, 4 and 5 of Law 8/2010 on Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering.

The case is still under investigation and no charge has been made. However, Bareskrim has quizzed two ACT board members, Ahyudin and Ibnu Khajar, on Friday (8/7). (rr)
