Jakarta, IO – Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry (Kemenparekraf) is exploring the possibility for a direct flight between Doha and Yogyakarta.
The minister, Sandiaga Uno, revealed that this route would complement the existing routes of Doha-Medan, Doha-Jakarta and Doha-Denpasar, reported Kompas, (29/5).
He said he has discussed this with Qatar Airways management when he attended the 2022 World Cup. He said the route has many potential as Yogyakarta is one of Indonesia’s major tourism hubs and super priority destinations, known for the majestic Borobodur Temple.
The flight from Doha will land in New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) in Kulon Progo, which is located not too far from Borobudur.

Sandiaga said his ministry is also exploring cooperation with Emirates, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, for a new route from Dubai to Yogyakarta. (un)
