The three-star retired Army general was dismissed from IDI membership during its 31st Congress in Banda Aceh. The decision was made based on recommendation by IDI’s Ethics Council (MKEK), CNNIndonesia reports.
One of the reasons cited for the dismissed was Terawan’s publicly promoting the homegrown Nusantara Vaccine before its research and clinical trials were completed.
“This dismissal does not mean that he is ban from IDI membership for life. So, there is still room for Dr. Terawan to be accepted into the organization again. We will work to strengthen the forum internally,” said IDI chairman Adib Khumaidi. (rr)
