Student protest in Makassar to reject three-term presidency turns violent

Makassar, IO – Student demonstrations against three-term presidency in Makassar ended in chaos on Thursday (7/4). Protesters turned violent and blocked roads, causing severe traffic jams around the end of fasting. Police officers tried to disperse them through persuasion.

“We reject elections postponement and presidential term extension and are evaluating the supervisory function of the House,” said field coordinator Sukirman S Doturu.

They also decried recent increase in fuel prices and scarcity of cooking oil that has brought pain to ordinary folks.
