Jakarta, IO – In response to the high price of cooking oil in the market, National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) head Rizal E. Halim urged President Jokowi to reverse the price of cooking oil to the original retail price ceiling (HET) of Rp11,500 per liter for bulk; Rp13,500 per liter for plain packaged; and Rp14,000 per liter for premium packaged type.

“We request this after finding that in fact the supply of domestic cooking oil is sufficient for consumption of between 11-12 liters per capita per year,” Rizal told the Independent Observer, Thursday (7/4).

He explained that the scarcity of cooking oil happened because of the Trade Minister Regulation 11/2022 did not regulate the HET for plain packaged type and let the market decided the price.
