Jakarta, IO – Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotejo viewed FIFA decision to freeze assistance fund for the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) as sanction for Indonesia’s failure in holding U20 World Cup as a relief.
According to him, the sanction was more lenient than expected as it would not disrupt the football competition agenda in Indonesia.
“It’s very positive. Even though there will be additional works logistics-wise. But I’m sure that PSSI chairman has many solutions to address this issue,” Dito said, reported Tempo, Friday (7/4).
Dito admitted that he did not know the amount of FIFA Forward 3.0 fund being frozen. He said his ministry would hold a meeting with PSSI to discuss the impact. “We will sit together and assess this condition in more comprehensive manner,” he said.
According to FIFA official website, despite the punitive measure it remains committed to support PSSI in the process to transform Indonesia football scene and will provide necessary assistance.
