He said there are two things that political party leaders must have to be able to have high popularity: achievement and long-standing political career. “Finding the one that has both is not easy,” he explained.
Within PKS, he said advisory council chairman Salim Segaf al-Jufri is being prepared to become a political figure, especially for the 2024 presidential election. PKS will also continue to build cadre systems to find figure with the right combination of achievement and leadership.
“For example, PKS president always serve for one term. It is good for internal leadership rotation, but it is difficult to build popularity externally. Currently we are focusing on making Dr Salim the party’s figure,” he concluded. (un)
