Jakarta, IO – Ferdy Sambo was the former police internal affairs chief convicted and sentenced to death in the premeditated murder of his subordinate Yosua. The Supreme Court (MA) ruling was read out on Tuesday (8/8), per CNNIndonesia. The decision was given in response to his appeal request.

“The cassation decision rejected the appeal by the public prosecutor and the defendant by correcting the qualification of the crime and the sentence imposed,” said MA spokesperson Sobandi.

Other than Sambo, MA also reduced the jail term of Sambo’s wife Putri Candrawathi from 20 years to 10 years.

Meanwhile, MA confirmed the sentence of Richard Eliezer, Ricky Rizal and Kuat Ma’ruf who were proven to be involved in the shocking murder that took place at Sambo’s official residence in South Jakarta on July 8 last year.

Richard was the one ordered by Sambo to shoot Yosua, while Ricky and Kuat aided Sambo in covering up the high-profile case that sent a shockwave through the police agency. (un)
