Lake Toba to host the 2023 Aquabike Jetski World Championship

Jakarta, IO – Lake Toba, North Sumatra will host the 2023 Aquabike Jetski World Championship on November 22-26 participated by 22 countries.

InJourney’s Director of Marketing and Tourism Programs said the championship will set a new history because four regencies, namely Toba, Samosir, Karo and Dairi will be hosting this event, per Detikcom, Tue (14/11).

“This is a historic moment because it is the first time Indonesia has held the Aquabike Jetski World Championship,” said Maya. “And it will be jointly hosted by four regecies.”

Maya also said that a number of preparations have been made including increasing flight frequency and transportation access to accommodate spectators at Lake Toba.

“We will add flight frequencies from Garuda, Pelita and Citilink, connectivity from Silangit Airport and Kualanamu Airport,” he said. “The closest (to the location) is Silangit, where you can travel to Parapat or Balige. From the port there are also boats provided for connectivity to Samosir, from Samosir to Karo.”

During the 2023 Aquabike Jetski World Championship, a series of the Lake Toba People’s Festival will also liven up the event. Some of the events include culinary festivals and canoe competitions.

“We want this international event to become a Lake Toba people’s party that is held every year,” he explained.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said Lake Toba Regency is ready to welcome tourists. Thousands of micro, small and mid-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and the hotel and lodging industry has also geared up for the international sporting event.

“We are very enthusiastic and optimistic that this activity will have an impact on the local economy. We will maximize all accommodation and related tourism ecosystems because sport tourism is starting to gain a lot of interest,” he said. (un)
