The guitar was successfully bought by Jim Irsay Collection, after a bidding war between collectors from around the world. They participate in auctions held online and by phone. Meanwhile, the selling price far exceeded the original estimate of US$600,000 (Rp8.8 billion).

During his lifetime, Cobain considered the 1969 Fender Mustang one of his favorite guitars. This was revealed by the legend in his last interview with Guitar World.
“I’m left-handed, and it’s not easy to find a high-quality, affordable left-handed guitar,” Cobain told Guitar World, as per Variety.
“But of all the guitars around the world, the Fender Mustang is my favourite. I only own two of them,” he revealed. (at)
