Jakarta, IO – Indonesian men’s singles badminton player Jonatan Christie was crowned the All England 2024 champion after defeating his fellow countryman Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in the final match at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, Sunday (17/3).
Jonatan, affectionately known as Jojo, managed to grab the championship title in 55 minutes. This tight duel between the two compatriots has been on full display since the first game, per CNN Indonesia, Monday (18/3).
At the start, Ginting forced Jonathan to make a mistake so he took the lead with a score of 1-0. Then Jojo was able to turn the game in a 2-1 lead. But Ginting threw a sharp smash to equalize the score at 2-2.
The game continued until the final score of the first game, Jojo was ahead with a score of 21-15. The second game was no less fierce, but Ginting faced difficulty keeping up against in-form Jojo.

Jonathan finally managed to write his name in All England history after beating Ginting with a score of 21-14. Indonesia finally ended its 22- year drought in the world’s oldest and most prestigious badminton tournament. (un)
