Jakarta, IO – Now criminals or fugitives can no longer hide in Singapore as President Joko Widodo has signed Law 5/2023 on the ratification of extradition agreement between the government of Indonesia and Singapore on Friday (13/1), reported Bisnis Indonesia.
In its explanation, the law cites the advancement of transportation, communication and information technology advancements that make it easier for cross border movement of people.
Thus, it seeks to establish bilateral cooperation in extradition which covers the legal basis, types of crime, exceptions, request and support documents, and handover arrangement.
“With this international agreement, it is hoped that the relations and cooperation between the two countries in law enforcement and eradication of criminal acts based on mutually beneficial principle can be strengthened,” it wrote.
