Jakarta Disdukcapil to deactivate 94,000 NIK to correct population administration

Jakarta, IO – Tens of thousands of citizenship identification numbers (NIK) of residents who no longer live in Jakarta will be deactivated by the Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Bureau (Disdukcapil) in several stages on a monthly basis.

Jakarta Disdukcapil head Budi Awaluddin explained that population administration needs to be corrected because it will affect the regional development process and public policy, per CNN Indonesia, Mon (26/2).

Budi said that the program will start from people who have died to neighborhood units (RT) that no longer exist due to eviction but are still listed on the national identity card (KTP).

He said the agency has socialize the measure since September 2023 and that many residents have had their data updated. The public can see their NIK status via the site https://datawarga-dukcapil.jakarta.go.id/.

“If there are residents who are affected by this measure there is no need to panic, please come to the nearest Dukcapil office to get information regarding their NIK so that it can be reactivated in accordance with proper applicable procedures,” said Budi. (un)
