CGV extends provisional cinema closings

IO, Jakarta – PT Graha Layar Prima Tbk (Company) as the management of CGV cinemas in Indonesia has announced extending the temporary closing period of its cinemas throughout Indonesia to an undetermined future time. The decision was taken to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and also to comply with central government instructions, which were followed up with various Circular Letters of Regional Heads, in their respective regions, both the Governor and the local Regent/Mayor. CGV will continue to monitor and keep abreast of the latest developments related to COVID-19. 

“In total there are 68 cinemas, 397 screens spread across 33 cities and 15 provinces in Indonesia which we have temporarily closed. The Company is committed to always providing a safe, comfortable and healthy cinema environment for its staff and also CGV visitors. Their safety and health are the top priority during this crisis,” said CGV Director Dian Sunardi Munaf. 

At the time of the temporary closure, a number of preventive measures were still being carried out including spraying disinfectant around the auditoriums and other rooms, raising the cleanliness standards of the cinema, and developing strategies to stabilize business after the cessation of operational activities. These steps were taken to welcome the return of film fans at the CGV cinema to enjoy a number of new films that have been delayed due to the pandemic.
