The complex challenge facing the world of philanthropy is also acknowledged by the Deputy Chair of the Filantropi Indonesia executive board, Suzanty Sitorus. She said that wider coverage was an important factor in realizing more inclusive philanthropy. Sharing and helping others need to be carried out without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, race, or class.

“Therefore, there is still homework to be done to ensure that philanthropy is truly considered an important pillar in this country, regulations and systems wise,” she said.

To solve this problem, Suzanty said philanthropic associations must continue to be active in collaborating with many parties, such as research organizations or other private sectors and combine national and international resources.

“Although basically philanthropic activities have a very noble goal, namely to foster a sense of generosity by helping others, they are prone to abuse by irresponsible people,” she said. (un)
