Jakarta, IO – President Director of PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero), Riki Firmandha Ibrahim, visited the victims of the recent work accident at his Company, accompanied by the Geo Dipa HC Manager and other members of Management, at the KRT Setjonegoro Regional General Hospital, Wonosobo, on Monday, 14 March to check on their condition.
A leak of H2S gas occurred from a geothermal well that was being worked over in Geo Dipa’s PAD 28 in Dieng, Batur, Banjarnegara, on 14:55 p.m. on Saturday, 12 March 2022. During the quenching of the well, one of the workers involved in the workover took the initiative to check the relief valve located at mud pump-1. Unfortunately, the valve opened automatically, spraying him with water mixed with H2S. The poor man fell unconscious immediately. Luckily, he was quickly located and evacuated to Kejajar 1 Community Clinic in Wonosobo.
Geo Dipa formally declared that it is not true that the accident was caused by an H2S explosion in the quenched geothermal well. Only 3 out of the 9 hospitalized victims are still in treatment as of Monday, with 1 discharged after just one day. The patients Riki visited were Sulthoni Amin, Sutrisno, and Irfan. “Alhamdulillah, praised be Allah, their condition have progressed greatly. They are all conscious and can speak. I have spoken to all of them, and I hope that they can go home soon,” Riki said.
