Jakarta, IO – Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the presidential and vice presidential candidates (bacapres) and vice presidential candidates of the Advanced Indonesia coalition (KIM), registered themselves as 2024 election contestants at the General Elections Commission (KPU), Jakarta, Wednesday (25/10).
Their arrival was welcomed by hundreds of thousands of supporters and sympathizers who had thronged the area since the morning. They chanted to express their support for the pair.
Various attributes in the form of banners and flags emblazoned with ‘Prabowo for President’ as well as traditional costume parades, accompanied by ondel-ondel (Betawi giant effigy), lion dances, marching band, paskibra (flag hoisting team) and chanting of selawat also livened up the festive atmosphere.
Party chairmen from the coalition were also seen tagging along. “Prabowo for president!” yelled the supporters boisterously. “Prabowo, Gibran!,” cheered another.

The entourage arrived at the KPU at around 11.15am. Prabowo and Gibran were seen wearing blue shirt while riding indigenously-produced military tactical vehicle Maung with Golkar chairman Airlangga Hartarto, PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan, Democratic Party chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, PBB chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Gelora chairman Anis Matta, PSI chairman Kaesang Pangarep, Garuda Party chairman Ahmad Ridha Sabana and Prima Party chairman Agus Jabo.
Before heading toward KPU, Prabowo and Gibran took the time to greet the volunteers at the Indonesia Arena Senayan and Taman Suropati Menteng. There, Prabowo reiterated his and Gibran’s commitment to Indonesia. “Our whole body and soul is for Indonesia,” said Prabowo in front of the crowd. (un)
