Kontras alleged that there were indications that the government has deliberately covered up the document. The disclosure of this information further shows that the government tried to “cut corner” to make it appear as if they have resolved gross human rights violations.
In addition, Kontras questioned the appointment of Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Kiki Syahnakri as member in the team. According to KontraS, he is on the list of Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) for human rights violations in East Timor. Kiki is alleged to be involved in the killing, deportation and persecution of East Timorese.

“In 1995, the Military Honor Board (DKM) transferred Kiki after an investigation found that as Commander of the Regional Military Command (Danrem) 164, he was also responsible for the murder of six Liquica residents by Indonesian soldiers,” said Fatia. (un)
