Jakarta, IO – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is targeting 126 million certified plots of land by the end of his term in 2024. This is done to accelerate the development of infrastructure projects.

The government through the National Land Agency (BPN) has so far certified 106 million plots of land or 84% of the target, per Katadata, Thursday (14/9).

He also appreciated the performance of BPN, which according to him has carried out massive land certification. Jokowi noted that this achievement has increased sharply from 2015 which saw 46 million plots of land being certified.

Jokowi said land certification was the main step in developing a project. According to him, care is required to complete the certification.

“The work must be detailed, it is impossible for such a large project to be completed even if the budget and money are there,” said Jokowi.

In addition, he highlighted the clash between security forces and a number of residents in Rempang, Batam, Riau Islands. Jokowi believes that the polemic was triggered by misunderstandings, especially regarding the aspects of compensation and relocation of residents affected by the development of the Eco City zone.

Jokowi said he had contacted National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo to immediately address the issue and improve communication on the ground with the affected communities. (un)
