IPEKA students score first place in the 2022 World Scholar’s Cup

Jakarta, IO – Eleven IPEKA INTEGRATED Christian School (IICS) Middle School students won first place in the 2022 World Scholar’s Cup (WSC), taking the Tournament of Champions at Yale University. There were approximately 1,800 students from 60 countries at the event, and the IICS Team managed to defeat tough competitors from the United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. 

The IICS team consisted of grades seven, eight, and nine students, ranging from 12 to 14 years of age. Despite this being their initial try in the tournament, the eleven IICS participants managed to collect dozens of trophies and medals at WSC 2022. 

The IICS team won a total of 21 trophies, 80 gold medals, and 21 silver medals in the preliminary round of the WSC Global in Bangkok, in September 2022. The IICS team scored well in the final round (WSC Tournament of Champions) at Yale University in November 2022 and brought home a total of six trophies, 39 gold medals and 32 silver medals. 

The IICS has done the Indonesian team proud by winning the First Place Overall Champion Team for the Junior Division category. The winning team was a great collaboration of IICS and ACS International Singapore schools: Audrey Effendi (IICS), Caitlin Valencia Yong (IICS), and Jayden Christian Budiman (ACS International Singapore). 

IICS Junior & Senior High School Administrative Principal, Engelina Sutantio welcomed the IICS winning team by expressing her joy and pride for the IICS winning team who excelled at the international level.
