Indonesia Denounces Israel’s Attack of Iran’s Consulate in Syria

Jakarta, IO – Indonesia condemns the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, Syria which reportedly killed eight.

This was conveyed by the Indonesian Foreign Ministry (Kemlu) via its official X handle @kemlu_RI, per Detikcom, Tue (2/4).

“Indonesia strongly condemns Israel’s attacks on Iranian diplomatic building and facilities in Damascus,” said Kemlu in a statement, adding that it violated international law and the UN Charter.

“The attack is one of Israel’s litany of actions which have escalated the conflict and damage the prospect of peace in the region,” Kemlu decried.

The attack was the fifth one in eight days to have hit Syria. There was no immediate comment from Israel, but the incident was seen as provocative in an already volatile Middle East.

In recent months, Israel has increased its attacks against Iran-backed groups since it launced its ground offensive in Gaza to root out Hamas. (un)
