Author Yudhistira Massardi dies at 70

Jakarta, IO – Renowned Indonesian author Yudhistira Massardi died on Tuesday (2/4) evening. He breathed his last breath at the age of 70. The sad news was conveyed by his son, Kafka Massardi, via his X handle. He explained that his father died at 9.12pm WIB at Bekasi general hospital, per CNN Indonesia, Wed (3/4).

Yudhistira, born on February 28, 1954, is known as a prolific writer who has written many novels, short stories, soap opera scripts, and poems.

One of his popular works is the novel “Arjuna Mencari Cinta”, named the best youth novel in 1977 by Buku Utama Foundation. The story was also adapted into a film “Mencari Cinta Saja”. He was even billed as a talented young writer by Indonesian literary maestro and critic H.B. Jassin.

Apart from authoring a number of literary works, he also worked in a number of media, including as editor of several magazines: Le Laki (1976-1978), Tempo (1979-1981), Jakarta Jakarta (1985-1987), Editor (1988), and Gatra.

Kafka informed that his father would be buried at Pondok Pekayon Indah, Bekasi. (un)
