Jakarta, IO – PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GoTo) officially retrenched 1,300 of its workers on Friday (18/11), citing the need to improve efficiency.
GoTo’s management said the decision was taken in a bid to prepare for the looming global macroeconomic challenges. They said they would focus on services such as on-demand, e-commerce and financial technology (fintech), reported Kontan.
In Q2, GoTo managed to save Rp800 billion in cost from technology, marketing and outsourcing.
“This includes making the difficult decision to shed 12% of the company’s permanent workforce,” said GoTo management on Friday (18/11).
GoTo deemed the measure inevitable, but it will have a positive impact on improving its service for millions of its consumers, partner drivers and merchants. (un)
